HEALTH CAREER DISCOVERY PROGRAM BEGINS AT SCHNECK

Schneck Medical Center is proud to announce Health Career Discovery, a free program for middle and high school students interested in exploring various medical careers. The program offers participants the opportunity to learn more about the many different areas of healthcare and how to prepare for a future in the healthcare field. Health Care Discovery features speakers from a variety of healthcare services including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals. Students will tour the hospital and receive hands-on practice in many different departments within the healthcare setting.
Each Health Career Discovery meeting will feature a new topic in the healthcare field. Dates, times, meeting locations, and topics include:
Tuesday, February 28
Risk Management, Safety Officer, and Pet Therapy Program
Wednesday, February 29
Medical Coding, Transcription, and Dietetics
Wednesday, March 7
Emergency Department and Ambulance Service
Tuesday, March 13
Nursing including Operating Room, Obstetric, Medical/Surgical, Home Services, Surgical Services,
and Certified Medical Technologist
Wednesday, March 14
Dr. LeAnn Stidham, radiologist, and Diagnostic Imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine)
Thursday, March 15
Watch a videotaped laparoscopic surgery!
Dr. Sam Steffey, anesthesiologist, and Dr. Amanda Dick, surgeon
Monday, March 26
Explore a physician’s work inside and outside the hospital!
Dr John Fye, family practice, and Dr. Doug Towriss, hospitalist

Witness a live obstetric ultrasound and talk with an ER doctor!

Unless otherwise noted, each program will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Schneck Auditorium located on the first floor of Schneck Medical Center near the Visitor Entrance.
