SCHNECK MEDICAL CENTER WINS STAFF DEVELOPMENT AWARD
January 9, 2009
Seymour, Ind.-Schneck Medical Center has been awarded the 2008 Outstanding Project for Staff Development by the Indiana Society for Healthcare Education & Training for its Leadership Benchmarking Skills Assessment Tool (LBSAT). The LBSAT, developed by Schneck's Human Resources Performance Improvement Team, allows members of the Schneck leadership team to measure how their skills are perceived by their colleagues. The tool helps them develop new actions for personal and professional change, and build more powerful interpersonal relationships and team work.
"As a leader in providing excellent healthcare services, it is essential that our leadership team has excellent business and people management skills in addition to their in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry," said Karen Layman, Director of Staff Development at Schneck. "Our leadership team is committed to personal and organizational performance improvement. The LBSAT helps to develop the skills our leaders need to provide quality healthcare, the very core of our mission." The tool was developed based upon best practice research in the book "The Extraordinary Leader" by John Zenger and Joseph Folkman.
