SCHNECK ONE OF ONLY FOUR HOSPITALS IN INDIANA TO RECEIVE CLINICAL EXCELLENCE AWARD

Seymour, Ind.-Schneck Medical Center has been named one of only four hospitals in Indiana, and one of only nine regionally, to receive the 2009 Clinical Excellence Award from VHA Central, the regional arm of VHA, Inc., the national healthcare alliance.

The Clinical Excellence Award honors healthcare organizations that have differentiated themselves around national performance standards by achieving sustained clinical excellence as measured by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Schneck met this high standard for pneumonia care.

"VHA Central works with hospital across Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky. Our mission is to help them become leading performers," said Mark Hochstetler, M.D., Vice President of Clinical Affairs. "We provide hospitals with tools, education, and access to clinical experts to enable them to accelerate the pace of performance improvement. By recognizing top performing hospitals, we hope to demonstrate that hospitals can overcome the obstacles that often stand in the way to achieving excellence."
