SCHNECK NAMED ONE OF HEALTHCARE'S BEST PLACES TO WORK BY MODERN HEALTHCARE MAGAZINE
September 24, 2009

Seymour, Ind.-Schneck Medical Center has been named one of the "Best Places to Work" in healthcare by business magazine Modern Healthcare. Three-hundred and seventeen (317) healthcare companies participated in this year's healthcare workplace listing. One hundred (100) were named to the list. Schneck was also named as one of Indiana's Best Places to Work in 2009.

"We are honored to be named among some of the best health care organizations in the country as a great place to work," says Gary A. Meyer, President/CEO of Schneck Medical Center. "We value our employees and recognize that they are the reason for our success."

Modern Healthcare conducted this program to recognize outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on the national level. From economic development to employee retention, being named one of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare benefits individuals, organizations, and the healthcare industry.

The program collected information from both the employer and employees and was open to all companies (providers, suppliers, payers, associations, etc.) with at least 25 employees. Employers completed a survey detailing company policies, practices, benefits, and demographics. Employees were asked an in-depth set of questions that resulted in an analysis in eight core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits, and overall satisfaction.

"Whether caregivers are at the bedside or support those who are, it is our people who have helped us achieve this honor," says Bill Lewis, vice president of Human Resources at Schneck.

Schneck has long recognized the needs of its employees through company-wide benefits and programs to ensure retention and advancement. It also focuses on flexible scheduling, part-time hours, and an innovative program called Tender Care which allows parents to bring ill children to work to be cared for on the pediatric floor.

"Modern Healthcare congratulates all of the 100 organizations named to the magazine's list of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2009," said Fawn Lopez, publisher of Modern Healthcare. "These healthcare employers demonstrate that building a culture in which employees are supported and engaged benefits not only patients and customers, but the employers' financial performance as well."
