SCHNECK ONE OF ONLY THREE HOSPITALS IN INDIANA TO RECEIVE PEAK AWARD FOR PATIENT EXPERIENCE

Schneck Medical Center has been named one of only three hospitals in Indiana, and one of only five regionally, to receive the 2010 Peak Award for Patient Experience from VHA Central, the regional arm of VHA Inc., the national healthcare alliance.
The Peak Awards recognize healthcare organizations that have achieved and sustained excellence around national performance standards. Winners were selected among all VHA Central members reporting data in the VHA Central Superior Performance Initiative and utilizing HCAHPS definitions for three key measures including nurse explains in a way that is understandable, physician courtesy, and recommends hospital.
“VHA works with hundreds of hospital across the nation, and our mission is to help these organizations become better performers,” said Patti Sweeney, senior vice president of VHA Central. “By recognizing Schneck Medical Center with a VHA Peak Award, we hope to demonstrate that other hospitals can overcome the many obstacles that keep so many from becoming peak performers.”
