SCHNECK RECEIVES PEAK AWARD FOR PATIENT EXPERIENCE
May 10, 2012

Schneck Medical Center has been named a 2012 recipient of the PEAK Award for Performance Excellence for overall patient experience. The recognition comes from the regional arm of VHA, Inc., the national healthcare network.

Schneck received the PEAK Award for exceeding national standards on nine key patient experience measures as determined by its HCAHP (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) scores including: overall rating, communication with nurses, responsiveness of hospital staff, communication with doctors, room and bathroom clean, room quiet at night, pain management, communication about medications, and discharge information/instructions.

“VHA works with hundreds of hospitals across the nation, and our mission is to help them become better performers,” said Patti Sweeney, senior vice president of VHA Central. “We provide hospitals with tools and knowledge that enable them to accurately assess their current performance, leverage VHA resources, and connect with other VHA members so they can share ideas that help them accelerate efforts to improve. Public expectations, payer demands, and government mandates are pushing hospitals to provide better care. By recognizing these selected hospitals with VHA PEAK awards, we hope to demonstrate that hospitals can overcome the many obstacles that keep so many from becoming peak performers.”

“This prestigious recognition confirms our ongoing commitment to excellent patient care,” said Gary A. Meyer, President/CEO of Schneck Medical Center. “At Schneck, our staff work together to continuously improve the quality of services we deliver to ensure that Schneck Medical Center is the best place to give and receive safe, quality, compassionate healthcare. We are raising the bar for quality healthcare in our communities."
