Schneck Medical Center CMO Named Top Hospitalist in the Nation

Dr. Douglas A. Towriss, Chief Medical Officer and Director, Hospital Medicine Associates, Schneck Medical Center, has been named one of the nation’s Top Hospitalists by the American College of Physicians—one of only ten physicians named to the list. The physicians that were chosen distinguished themselves in the areas of patient safety, community involvement, clinical skills, quality improvement, leadership, and teaching.

Under Towriss’ leadership, Schneck hospitalist program has grown from two to five in just four years. Towriss has focused his efforts on creating multi-disciplinary teams to improve patients care and led an initiative to implement electronic physician ordering which has improved communication resulting in better care and discharge rates.
