How to Deal with Chronic Pain the Natural Way
Dr. Steve Windley - December 22, 2015
Regular or frequent pain can be a frustrating and sometimes debilitating obstacle. Part of the dilemma with chronic pain is that it can originate from many sources. Whatever the condition, many natural remedies exist to help alleviate everyday aches.
  1. Relax. Stress is one of the most common and widespread aggressors of pain, and it is a particularly tricky one to deal with since the sources of stress cannot always be eliminated. So for those everlasting annoyances, make sure to take time out of your day to sit back and just breathe. Meditation is a very popular technique for dealing with pain and heightening concentration.
  2. Avoid alcohol. Booze does a lot of wrong for the body, and one thing it always does is interrupt sleep patterns. And when chronic pain is a concern, sleep is a necessity.
  3. Exercise. The natural endorphins the body produces during and after exercise immediately affect mood and pain receptors. That “runner’s high” that you’ve heard so much about is indeed a real one caused by the rush of endorphins and blood throughout the body.
  4. Massage and acupuncture are old methods of relaxation and pain management, and their benefits have kept them popular even today.
