Sepsis Awareness Day
Heather Wessel - September 13, 2016

Did you know that September 13th is sepsis awareness day in Indiana?

Have you or someone you know been affected by sepsis?  Did you know every 3 seconds someone in the world dies from sepsis and 3,500 Hoosiers die each year from it?

Sepsis is a consequence of infection that is difficult to predict, diagnose and treat. Patients who develop sepsis have an increased risk of complications and death and face higher health care costs and longer treatment. SMC and the Sepsis Team is working to increase sepsis awareness and improve early recognition, diagnosis and treatment of patients.
