Dear Diabetes
Schneck Medical Center - November 20, 2018
November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Schneck Endocrinology wants to give patients and staff a voice. We asked patients to write a letter to diabetes! Some discussed their struggles, while others focused on the positive changes they’ve made in their lives since their diagnosis. All vowed to fight to keep diabetes in check with the help of family, friends, and their healthcare providers at Schneck.

Hear about their experience with Diabetes:

The Dear Diabetes campaign started last year with the American Diabetes Association. All of us see statistics about diabetes and sometimes forget that each number represents a person, someone who struggles in their fight. To hear more of their voices, visit

The statistics on diabetes are astounding. In 2015, 30.3 million Americans, or 9.4% of the population, had diabetes—the seventh leading cause of death. The economic impact is staggering as well. The cost of diagnosed diabetes in the U.S. last year was $327 billion, that’s BILLION dollars! Learn more about the diabetes statistics.

As we give thanks this November, remember those who struggle with diabetes. We all know someone who is fighting to win their battle. Let’s give thanks for them, for our health, and for the opportunity to pursue wellness, no matter what struggles we may face.
