Get to Know Dr. Matthew Wilson

Doctor Matthew Wilson headshotDr. Matthew Wilson is a family physician and joins Schneck Primary Care-Jackson Park. He earned his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University, and completed graduate work in medical sciences at Loyola University of Chicago and in biology at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.

Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies, I was involved with many extracurricular activities including student council, biology club and I served as the president for the honors society.

Please tell us about your family.

My wife and I have four children. Our oldest will be completing her senior year in college. We wanted to return to Indiana and be close to family again after being gone for 15 years. I have fond childhood memories of the area, spending many summers at Redbrush Park.

What hobbies do you enjoy?

I enjoy fishing, hunting, boating, and camping, which are all in abundance in the area.

When did you know you wanted to be a physician?

I knew I wanted to be a physician from a very young age. But when I was in high school, the death of a close family member was affirmation of my career choice.

What is your favorite memory from your medical career thus far?

It was a mission trip I took to southern Peru in 2019. My time in Peru gave me an incredible appreciation for the resources that we have in the United States; both medically and in general. It is humbling to have a patient cry because you gave him/her a “miracle drug” to treat an ailment, and that drug is Ibuprofen.

What attracted you to work at Schneck?

I am excited to be coming to Schneck and to Seymour to practice medicine! I look forward to meeting and getting to know many people in the area, building professional and personal relationships, and creating a new life, home and memories for my family.
Dr. Wilson is now accepting new patients. To make an appointment, call Schneck Primary Care at (812) 522-1613.
