Ewing St. Seymour, IN 47274 --- Dr. Frey is a Seymour native and attended medical school at Ross University School of Medicine. He completed his Family Medicine residency program at Ft. Wayne Medical Education in Ft. Wayne, IN. He joined the medical staff of Schneck Medical Center in 2018. ## Get to Know Dr. Aaron Frey! Check out the Q & A session below to learn more about Dr. Frey. ### Where did you grow up? I grew up in Seymour, Indiana. In high school, I was involved in music including playing guitar and singing in a band with my brother and a couple of friends. I also played tuba and sousaphone in the high school band. In college, I continued to play sousaphone in the IU Marching Hundred, I went on mission trips, and led worship at church. ### What hobbies do you enjoy? I am an avid aviation enthusiast and enjoy learning about aircraft and aviation. On days less suitable for aviation, I enjoy singing, playing the guitar, piano and bass guitar, as well as hiking and spending time with my family and friends. ### Where would you most like to visit? Europe! ### When did you know you wanted to be a physician? I had the opportunity to go on a few medical mission trips to Haiti during high school and undergrad. Seeing the compassion and life-changing work the physicians were performing helped me to realize my desire to pursue medicine. ### What is one of your most favorite memories from residency? I was caring for a patient in the hospital who was battling drug addiction. Because of his addiction, he had a bad infection throughout his body and was in the hospital for many weeks. During his hospitalization, I got to know the patient very well as I saw him each day. We had numerous conversations about his health, life and addiction. When he was well and able to go home, he vowed to never do drugs again. A year and a half later, I was called by the ER and asked to admit a patient by the same name with the complaint of ‘intoxication.’ My heart sank thinking this was the same person I had treated previously and he had relapsed. Upon entering the room, I didn’t recognize anyone, but before I could introduce myself, a man stood up, put his hand on the patient’s shoulder and said, ‘Now Dad, this is Dr. Frey. You listen to him. He saved my life.” It was the patient I had cared for just a year and a half ago. He had been ‘clean’ since the time he was released from the hospital and was doing well. ### What do you like most about practicing medicine? The ability to be able to form relationships with my patients and their families and to be able to celebrate their good times and help them through their hard times. ### Why did you decide to join Family Medical Center? I have gone to Family Medical Center for my healthcare the majority of my childhood and into adulthood. Through the years, I have known the physicians to be stellar healthcare providers capable of performing a wide spectrum of family medicine.
