He also serves as the Chief Medical Office at Schneck. He obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University School of Medicine and Biosciences and completed his Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at University of Missouri Kansas City. Dr. Stone is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Check out the Q & A session below to learn more about Dr. Stone. ### Where did you grow up? I grew up in Millhousen, Indiana. ### What hobbies do you enjoy? I enjoy playing the piano, reading, traveling and spending time with my family. ### What place would you most like to visit? I want to go back to Italy! But, I’ll travel anywhere warm with a beach. ### When did you know you wanted to be a physician? I was exposed to the medical field from birth; my mother is a nurse, my grandmother was a nurse, my aunt is a nurse, and numerous cousins are now also nurses. I remember going to the hospital with Mom and being amazed at what happened within its walls. I wanted to be a part of it. I wanted to know what they knew. I wanted to do what they did. ### What is your most favorite medical school memory? As a senior medical student working in the ICU, I had the opportunity to place a central line in an unconscious patient. The attending physician drew the anatomy of the central vasculature on the patient’s chest for my visual learning. I placed the central line without a problem. Then the patient’s wife walk into the room and said, ‘Did someone color on his chest?’ I turned bright red with embarrassment. I carefully withdrew myself from the room and left the attending physician to explain his art work. ### What do you like most about practicing medicine? Being a hospitalist, you meet patients and families at their most vulnerable times. The relationship and stories that are shared during those vulnerable times are the best part of medicine. ### What attracted you to Schneck Medical Center? Without a doubt, the people! The first time I came to Seymour and toured the facility, everyone was incredibly welcoming and spoke very highly of the hospitalists. Each department I walked through, people came up to me, introduced themselves, and told me how great Schneck and Seymour are. I was amazed at how easy conversations began.
