I am an Indiana native. I grew up in Bloomfield, Indiana and was an avid runner in high school. Today, I still enjoy running, but love weight lifting even more. I have spent the last 20 years away from Indiana, but I am excited to be back to spend more time with my family, especially my two nephews. ### What hobbies do you enjoy? My family would say I am as equally passionate about my hobbies as I am for medicine. I love food! From growing my own vegetables in my garden—forget radishes, my dog, Kenda, loves to eat all my radishes—to cooking for my family. On the weekends, I love the outdoors whether that is hiking, biking or skiing. On rainy days, you will find me reading a good book. ### When did you know you wanted to be a physician? My path to becoming a physician started as a desire to become a veterinarian. My love of science and medicine has long been a motivator, but I realized that I wanted to apply that passion to working with people instead. ### What do you like most about practicing medicine? Family medicine is the hardest, but most rewarding, field of medicine. I love building long-term relationships with my patients. I think one of my strengths is being in the moment with patients during their most difficult times and being a guide on peoples' journey of life. ### What is your favorite patient story? My favorite patient story is maybe an odd one. I had a 5-year-old patient who insisted I was the only person she would let pull her loose tooth. She proceeded to climb in my lap and open her mouth! This for me highlights the essence of family medicine.
