Junior Volunteer Program


Are you interested in a career in healthcare? Do you want to learn more about the hospital? Schneck offers a summer Junior Volunteer Program each year. The program offers students the chance to volunteer within a hospital department over the summer.

Program Guidelines

Program Details

  • 2021 Jr. Volunteer Program will take place the month of July
  • Volunteers will be assigned one, 4-hour shift per week
  • Volunteers must commit to the entire month of July

Eligibility Details

  • Age 16+
  • Legal dependent or grandchild of Schneck team member –OR- student of a Jackson County high school
  • Receive 2 TB tests prior to July 1 (see schedule)
  • Fully COVID-19 vaccinated prior to July 1 (2nd dose must be administered at least 14 days before July 1)

Application Details

  • Provide copy of Vaccination Record: Must have all series for Hepatitis B, Varicella, MMR, and COVID-19 (Both doses of COVID-19 vaccine must be completed at least 14 days before July 1.)

Tentative Schedule (*schedule is subject to change)

  • June 15 | 5-7 pm | Onboarding, uniform pick up, and receive 1st TB test
  • June 18 | 8 am – 12 Noon | 1st TB test read
  • June 22 | 5-7 pm | Orientation & receive 2nd TB test
  • June 25 | 8 am – 12 Noon | 2nd TB test read

Junior Volunteers begin their weekly schedule the week of Monday, July 5, 2021. Only 50 volunteer spots are available and will be filled as applications are received. Email completed applications to acockerham@schneckmed.org by June 10, 2021.

Junior Volunteer Alumni Scholarship

The Schneck Guild awards up to three $1,000 scholarships annually to graduating seniors that have been past junior volunteers and plan on pursuing a career in healthcare. Qualifying applicants may apply in March each year. More information can be found on the Scholarships page.
