Junior Volunteer Program

Are you interested in a career in healthcare? Do you want to learn more about the hospital? Schneck offers a summer Junior Volunteer Program each year. The program offers students the chance to volunteer within a hospital department over the summer, one shift a week for eight weeks.

Program Guidelines

  • You must be at least 14 years of age and completing the 8th grade.
  • You must be able to complete at least 32 volunteer hours throughout the summer. This would consist of one scheduled 4-hour shift per week.
  • The program fee is $15 and covers the cost for a junior volunteer polo. The polo must be worn with khaki pants or long skirt during each shift.
  • Provide a current copy of your immunization record, even if you are a past junior volunteer. Volunteers must have all series for Hepatitis B, Varicella, and MMR.
  • Available to have two tuberculin skin tests read between 48 and 72 hours after receiving each test.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a current school teacher, pastor, etc.

You may request a specific area to volunteer. We will try to accommodate your request based upon area need.

Junior Volunteer Alumni Scholarship

The Schneck Guild awards up to three $1,000 scholarships annually to graduating seniors that have been past junior volunteers and plan on pursuing a career in healthcare. Qualifying applicants may apply in March each year. More information can be found on the Scholarships page.
