 ## What Are Upper Endoscopies?

An upper endoscopy is a procedure to visually examine the upper digestive system, performed by a gastroenterologist using a flexible tube with a camera. It helps diagnose and treat conditions affecting the esophagus and stomach such as [acid reflux](https://www.schneckmed.org/conditions/acid-reflux), stomach ulcers, and other gastrointestinal disorders. The procedure may be combined with X-rays or ultrasound for better imaging.

Afterward, there may be throat discomfort and bloating, but normal activities can be resumed the next day. If you have a condition affecting your esophagus or stomach, don’t live with discomfort. Come to Schneck for quality care.
