Schneck Medical Center Receives Five Star Quality Rating from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Seymour, Indiana— Schneck Medical Center has received a 5-star rating for overall quality—the highest possible rating for quality of care—from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The ratings show how well each hospital performed, on average, compared to other hospitals in the United States.

Schneck was one of only 14 hospitals in Indiana to receive five stars for overall quality.

CMS assigns star ratings to more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide on their performance across seven areas of quality, including safety of care, readmission, mortality, patient experience, and timely and effective care.

”We are extremely proud of our team members,” said Eric Fish, MD, MBA, FACOG, President and CEO of Schneck. “These ratings are a direct result of their dedication to quality care, responsiveness to patient feedback, and embodiment of Schneck’s core values of integrity, compassion, accountability, and excellence.”

The goal of the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating program is to improve the usability, accessibility and interpretability of CMS’s hospital quality website, Hospital Care, for patients and consumers. According to CMS, the star ratings make it easier for consumers to choose a hospital and understand the quality of care they deliver.
