Mako SmartRobotics™

Schneck is pleased to offer Mako SmartRobotics™ technology for patients seeking knee or hip replacement surgeries. This advanced surgical tool provides a more personalized procedure for better results and faster recovery—so you can get back to enjoying life.

What Is Mako?

Mako is a robotic arm-assisted surgery system that uses 3D CT-based planning software. By starting with CT scans, your surgeon can learn more about your unique anatomy before surgery and create a personalized joint replacement surgical plan.

How Does It Work?

During the procedure, your surgeon guides Mako’s robotic arm to remove the arthritic bone and cartilage from your knee or hip. A virtual boundary determined by your CT scans provides physical resistance to help the surgeon perform a more accurate surgery. Once the diseased bone is removed, your customized implant is inserted in the joint.

Benefits of Mako

By guiding your doctor during surgery, Mako technology helps your surgeon cut less and protect more healthy bones and tissue. In general, this results in:

  • Less blood loss
  • Less pain
  • Less trauma on the body
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Faster recovery times
