Schneck Medical Center Earns Prestigious Magnet® Designation for the Fifth Time

Schneck Medical Center has been awarded Magnet® designation for the fifth time by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a prestigious honor that recognizes excellence in nursing and high-quality patient care.

Magnet designation is considered the gold standard for nursing excellence and is achieved by fewer than 10% of hospitals nationwide. Schneck is one of only 16 hospitals in Indiana currently Magnet designated, placing Schneck Medical Center among an elite group of healthcare organizations that demonstrate sustained excellence in nursing practice and patient care.

“Achieving Magnet recognition for the fifth time is an extraordinary accomplishment and a testament to the dedication, compassion, and expertise of our nursing team,” said Eric D. Fish, MD, MBA, FACOG, President/CEO of Schneck Medical Center. “This honor reflects the commitment of our entire organization to delivering safe, high-quality care to every patient we serve.”

Magnet designation recognizes healthcare organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing leadership, strong interprofessional collaboration, and outstanding patient outcomes. Hospitals that achieve Magnet status are known for higher patient satisfaction, improved clinical outcomes, and a positive work environment for team members.

“This recognition belongs to every member of our nursing team,” said Amy Pettit, DNP, RN, NE-BC, CSSBB, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. “Their unwavering commitment to excellence, patient-centered care, and professional growth is what makes this achievement possible.”

Schneck first achieved Magnet designation in 2006, and each re-designation reflects a rigorous evaluation process that includes detailed documentation, site visits, and performance metrics demonstrating sustained excellence.

As a five-time Magnet-designated organization, Schneck Medical Center continues to set a high standard for nursing excellence in Indiana and beyond, ensuring patients receive the highest level of care close to home.
