Schneck Pediatrics Welcomes Dr. Kristin Sanders

| Doctor FAQ

"You can really tell when you come to Schneck that everyone cares. Family is very important to me and I immediately could tell that it was important to the people here."

Dr. Sanders is a pediatrician joining Schneck Pediatrics. She received her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten, and completed her residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Beavercreek, Ohio. In high school, I was in the marching band, played softball and soccer, and was a member of the Girl Scouts. In college at Wright State University, I played rugby. I was also active in the Wright State University Student Alumni Association, and volunteered in the hospital PACU, Girl Scouts, and church events.

Please tell us about your family. My husband Eric and I have a son Dean and are expecting a baby girl in September!

What hobbies do you enjoy? I enjoy lifting weights, caving, cooking, kickboxing, hiking, and camping.

When did you know you wanted to be a physician? Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a doctor. I have always found the human body fascinating and I enjoy taking care of other people. My passion for pediatrics did not show up until medical school when I did my clinical rotation in Bronx, NY. I remember seeing the pure joy in the children despite their medical conditions. That joy has always seemed contagious to me. I am excited to get to know the pediatric community and their families here!

What is your favorite memory from your residency? During my intern year, my son was born eight weeks premature. While I was still in the hospital, my fellow residents surprised me with a baby shower. They were all very supportive while my son was in the NICU, even taking the time to check on my well-being. The camaraderie that I felt while in residency was exceptional. It was like a second family to me.

What do you like most about practicing medicine? I enjoy talking to parents, especially new parents. The excitement and anxiety they feel with a new baby brings me back to my own worries as a new mom with a preemie. Navigating through illnesses and coming up with a plan that both sides agree upon is also exciting, but challenging at times. I enjoy the mystery and complexity of different illnesses and being able to help families get through these difficult times together.

What attracted you to work at Schneck? There are a few things that attracted me to Schneck. One, the location is perfect! I will be close to family again and the surrounding areas have a lot to offer for entertainment, including Brown County and Indianapolis. Two, of all the locations that I have interviewed, Schneck was by far the most welcoming. I had a great time during my site visit. Everyone made me feel special to be here. Three, you can really tell when you come to Schneck that everyone cares. Family is very important to me and I immediately could tell that it was important to the people here. I am excited to call Seymour my forever home!
