When you come for your lab test, be sure to bring your lab order form that your physician gave you as well as your insurance card(s). You may register for your test at the reception desk of the Outpatient Care Center. If you are having a drug screen, you will also need a photo ID.

The laboratory defines fasting as no food or drink for eight (8) to twelve (12) hours before blood is drawn. Patients should still take their prescribed medication with a small amount of water, unless your physician has told you otherwise. Keep in mind candy, gum, mints, and coffee are considered food. Your medical provider and/or paperwork will indicate if you need to fast prior to a test.

Some common tests that require fasting include:

  • Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP)
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
  • Glucose Testing
  • Glucose Tolerance Testing
  • Lipid Panel

Blood work is done at Schneck Primary Care in Brownstown on Wednesdays from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. For more information about the Satellite Stations, please call Lab Outreach at (812) 523-4758.

Results for chemistry profiles, blood counts, and other routine testing will be provided to your physician on the same day the blood is collected. Reports will be provided by Forward Advantage, an automated fax system, or by courier delivery to your physician's office.

At the Schneck Laboratory outpatient draw center, anyone can have a PCR (molecular) COVID test ($52) or a COVID antibody test ($69.54.) The COVID test is appropriate for travel and includes comment with our laboratory information and test information. Results are available in less than 24 hours, so plan accordingly for timing of testing.

We have a dedicated Customer Service and Lab Outreach area for any questions or concerns you or your physician may have about your laboratory procedure.
