Inspire Sleep Therapy

Struggling with your CPAP mask?  Schneck Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine is proud to offer Inspire sleep therapy, a mask-free treatment option for patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who haven't found relief with traditional CPAP equipment.  Call and set up a consultation with Dr. Emilee SurVance, sleep specialist, to find out if you may be a candidate for Inspire sleep therapy.

Millions of people with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) find CPAP therapy uncomfortable or difficult to maintain. Inspire offers a proven alternative—without the mask or hose. This small, FDA-approved device is implanted in the body and works by stimulating the tongue’s nerves, gently moving it forward as you breathe. Approved in 2014, more than 100,000 patients are now enjoying restful, mask-free sleep each night.

Inspire therapy starts with a consultation with our sleep specialist, Dr. Emilee Survance at Schneck Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine.  If you are a candidate, she'll refer you to our Schneck ENT team for an airway exam procedure.  After the exam procedure, Inspire placement surgery with Schneck ENT is scheduled, with follow up and system adjustments as needed, after recovery with Dr. SurVance.  This team approach gives you the expertise needed to ensure the best outcome and quality care and follow-up.

How Inspire Works

  • Patients turn the device on with a remote before bed.
  • A sensor tracks breathing patterns.
  • A stimulator is connected to the nerve that controls tongue movement, gently activating the tongue muscle to prevent airway blockage during sleep.

The procedure is outpatient, typically takes about an hour, and involves just three small incisions. Most patients return to light activity within a few days.

Proven Results

  • 79% reduction in sleep apnea events
  • 93% of patients would recommend Inspire to a friend or family member
  • 99.6% of procedures completed without major complications
