Schneck Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Acute Stroke Ready Certification.

Schneck underwent a rigorous review. Joint Commission evaluated compliance with related certification standards including program management, supporting self-management, and delivering and facilitating clinical care. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients.

“Acute Stroke Ready Certification recognizes healthcare organizations committed to fostering continuous quality improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Schneck for using certification to reduce variation in its clinical processes and to strengthen its program structure and management framework for stroke patients.”

“We congratulate Schneck for this outstanding achievement,” says Nancy Brown, chief executive officer, the American Stroke Association. “This certification reflects its commitment to providing the highest quality of care for stroke patients.”

“We are very proud to receive Acute Stroke Ready Certification from The Joint Commission and the American Stroke Association,” said Amy Pettit, DNP, RN, NE-BC, CSSBB, Schneck Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. “This certification demonstrates our commitment to providing a higher standard of service to stroke patients, while also addressing the gap in access to acute stroke services.”

“If patients who experience an acute ischemic stroke can get treated with clot-busting medications quickly, more lives will be saved and more patients will have improved outcomes,” Pettit added.
