This includes complex cases of diabetes, thyroid disorders, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, adrenal and pituitary conditions, and osteoporosis. Dr. Gilbert has years of specialized training, including comprehensive experience in thyroid ultrasound. She joined the medical staff of Schneck in 2013. A native of Seymour, Dr. Gilbert ran cross country and track, played basketball, and was a member of the marching and concert bands at Seymour High School. She knew she wanted to be a physician after an EMT course in college. Check out the Q & A session below to learn more about Dr. Gilbert. ### Where did you grow up? I grew up in Seymour, Indiana. I ran cross country and track, played basketball, and was a member of the marching and concert bands at Seymour High School. My parents still live locally. My dad is a retired veterinarian who now farms and my mom is a retired elementary teacher. In college, I ran cross country and track, was a biology lab assistant, a kindergarten Sunday School teacher, and a preschool/daycare center volunteer. ### Please tell us about your family. My husband Frank is from Peru, Indiana and attended DePauw University majoring in computer science. We have a four-year old daughter Lydia. ### What hobbies do you enjoy? I enjoy outdoor sports, especially running. I’ve hiked a portion of the Appalachian Trail and ran two triathlons and a marathon. I also like to spend time with family and friends, garden, play board games, and read. ### Where would you most like to visit? The place I would most like to visit is Kilimanjaro National Park. ### When did you know you wanted to be a physician? After my EMT course in college. ### What do you like most about practicing medicine? Physiology, difficult medical diagnoses, and taking care of patients. ### Why do you enjoy practicing at Schneck?
