Get to Know Dr. Goldstein

Dr. Wendy Goldstein grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. Watch the video to learn more about Dr. Goldstein.

My hometown is Owensboro, Kentucky, but I grew up in Louisville.

I met my husband in Pittsburgh when I was in undergraduate school. We dated for ten years and before getting married.

I like to take and develop my own photographs. I played lacrosse in high school and still play it for fun. I love watching new and old movies. I enjoy hiking and bicycling when the weather is nice.

I love to travel and go on adventures. I would pick Greece; it looks so beautiful in pictures.

I always wanted to be in the science field when I was young; exploring and dissecting things. I knew I wanted to be a doctor after taking my first anatomy class in high school. My father and uncle are podiatrists. I realized I wanted to go into the family business after working at a New Balance store in undergraduate for a few years. I was sold when I saw the difference a proper pair of shoes could make. Podiatry runs in my family and I like to make the joke “I’m following in my father’s footsteps…. literally.

Being chief my last year of residency was the most rewarding experience. It was really great getting to see a different side of podiatry, organizing events for my fellow residents and community, and taking a bigger role in my field. Being involved in the hospital and getting to participate in Special Olympics were also a plus. All of residency was amazing, even being on call because it was always a learning experience.

In podiatry, we always strive for limb salvage. There was one patient that was at risk for losing her leg and all the other services said it could not be saved. We WERE able to save her leg with wound care and surgical correction. It was so gratifying and rewarding to know I was part of the team that was able to help this woman when no other person was willing to try. She was so grateful.

The patients! They make everything worth it, getting to be a small part of their lives and hearing their stories makes my job more enjoyable.

I’m so excited to be part of the community! Everyone I have met has been so warm, kind and welcoming. I was born in a small town and am excited to return to a small town.
