Get to Know Dr. Gerth

Dr. Kevin Gerth loves building relationships with his patients. Watch the video to learn more about Dr. Gerth.

I grew up in Avon, Indiana on the far west side of Indianapolis. At that time, it was a small town. My father was a dairy farmer and school bus driver. In high school, I played basketball and ran track. I went on to play collegiate basketball.

My wife and I have have 7 lovely children and 10 grandchildren. She is from Michigan. We met at Taylor University and, after completion of my residency program, she wanted to return to west Michigan where we were until 1989. I have two sisters one of whom, along with my mother, live in Greenwood, Indiana.

I enjoy a variety of sports including basketball, tennis, and racquetball. My current passion over the past few years has been water skiing.

New Zealand based upon the advice of a patient who has visited over 80 countries on five continents, and states that New Zealand was her favorite.

Before I graduated from high school, I knew that I wanted to go to medical school. Thus, I chose Taylor University given the fact that it was an excellent academic institution and had an excellent track record of getting their premedical students accepted into medical school. I was also influenced by an uncle of mine who, at the time, was a family practitioner and now practices vascular surgery in the state of Maine.

Without question, I most enjoy developing meaningful relationships with my patients and the opportunity to restore function to their daily lives through both fracture management and reconstructive procedures. I also enjoy the variety afforded to me through the practice of general orthopedics.

When I decided to relocate my practice from Michigan, I had many opportunities from which to choose. Schneck provided all of the requirements that I was seeking, including a more temperate climate, relatively close to my extended family, not too far from west Michigan, a stable group of orthopedic surgeons and mid-level providers, and a mid-sized hospital that has received several awards of late and is well managed.
